Lesson Number Nineteen
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”
[1 Peter 2:2]Question Number 19
Question. What is the meaning of this commandment?
Answer. That we should rest from labor, and much more from play on the Lord's day, that we may assemble ourselves together in the singing of hymns and spiritual songs in the fellowship of the preaching of God’s word.
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” [Hebrews 10:25]
SABBATH – THE SIGN!
The Sabbath here is the seventh day, Saturday. Israel was to keep the Sabbath. This is the only commandment given as a SIGN. The SIGN was given to Israel. “Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.” [Ezek 20:12]SUNDAY – THE NEW TESTAMENT PATTERN!
