Lesson Number Twenty-Nine

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”

[1 Peter 2:2]

Question Number 29

Question. What is the thing that is forbidden here?

Answer. To take away another man's goods without his permission, or to waste our own without benefit to ourselves or to others.
We are not are to be honest in our dealings with others. “Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.”
[1 Peter 2:12]

We are not to defraud anyone. We are to do others right. “Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.”
[Leviticus 19:13]

The summation of THE LAW, in regard to our neighbor, is this: “For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
[Romans 13:9]
