Question. What is repentance?

Answer. Repentance is a grace of the Spirit, whereby I hate my sins, and myself for them and confess them before the Lord, and seek after Jesus Christ for the pardon of them, and for grace to serve him in newness of life.

According to the 1828 Webster Dictionary it is: “sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an offense and dishonor to God, a violation of his holy law, and the basest ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence. Repentance is a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God.”
